As finals arrive....we PLAY!!

The semester is starting to wind down, and we're are heading into our last week of finals. So, naturally we decided to play....every night this weekend. Although it may sound bad it was one of the best weekends we've had since we actually decided to be social and hang out with more than just ourselves, it was a big step for us. Our weekend actually started thursday night when we went 80's dancing in Salt Lake. It was a long trip for not a very fun club, but it is college....who doesn't make stupid decisions? We kind of went because it was our newish friend (yep I'm popular now) Amy's birthday and she really wanted to go dancing, but friday night was her real party.
As a huge group we went to this fun place (don't know the name I just called it the jumpy place). It had two big gymnastic trampolines, gymnastic bouncy floors, a foam pit thing, these blow up toys and just a lot of crazy things. It was sooo much fun.
The first picture is of our group jumping all together on one of the trampolines, and actually a lot of people couldn't get into the picture.
The next picture is of the blow up wheel. We really wanted to sit in it and roll around. So we did. We did this all before the boys ran into the room and decided to push us. Lets just say the wheel started to loose a lot of air which caused it to sink, which really just crammed us in it more. At first glance you can't tell I'm in the picture, but just take a closer look at the middle of the bottom and you'll see me...part of me. When the boys started to push really fast we just ended up crumbling all on top of each other, it was slightly painful especially while laughing hysterically.
The next picture shows that I probably needed more quant sisters in my family, no offense Alisha, and less brothers. Whether I am fighting a boy to get my stuff back or just being taken to the ground, apparently the rule "boys don't hit girls" doesn't apply to me. I was blind sided by Brent and taken to the ground. Then of course I could never just give up and let it go.
I had to fight back, naturally. It is slightly unfair though because his body weighs a ton! He looks small but add his body weight to my chest while laughing hysterically and it leads to no breathing.
The other picture happens to be me crawled in a ball. Remember the big red wheel that often had way too many people packed into it? Well, while I was easily beating Brent at our wrestling match he was sitting on top of me. All of a sudden he bailed off and before I could fully wonder why he gave up, I was RAN OVER by the huge red wheel. After realizing that the wheel was coming our way, Brent strategically planned the timing of his bail out so I wouldn't see it coming, but would still get run over. Like I said, what happened to boys don't hit girls?
So that was our friday night, I know pretty epic. It ended with a concussion and a twisted knee, all boys may I add. The girls came out untouched...well except for me being ran over.
After staying up late with our friend who had the concussion it was a late morning for Hoku and I.
Lets just say the sun was wayyy up before we got out of bed. But our socialness continued over to saturday. BYU had this big party called Fall Fest at Seven Peaks Ice Arena. So, being the social butterflies we are, we went with a big group. It was soo much fun. We played broom hockey, well mostly the boys got into it while Hoku, Sarah, and I guarded the goal while pulling out some sweet dance moves. Then we went ice skating!! I forgot how much I love to ice skate. The Hawaiins were a little skeptical but I skated them around a little. We also went to the dance there and just were everyones friends!
But of course the fun must end sometime as finals are nearing, but don't worry the fun doesn't end this week. Next sunday there will probably be an even longer post, I know shocking right? What else do you expect from me? : ) Thursday I'll be rooting the Blazer's on in Salt Lake, friday I'll be partying it up at a polynesian party, and saturday my ward is all going to Salt Lake for the Christmas lights. Like I said, who needs finals?!?

Halloween!

I know this is kind of late but Halloween weekend was a little crazy. While eating lunch my friends and I were trying decide what to be for Halloween. Like usual, most girls were thinking of cute costumes. Claire was a jellyfish (it was super cute), Hoku was a gypsy, Kawehi was an aviator, and so on. It came down to, "what should Anna be?" My fall back plan was to just be a hippie, everyone here thinks I'm a hippie anyways, but I thought that was just too lame since a lot of girls were already being a hippie and of course I needed to be original. So as we were talking about being a hippie someone came up with the idea of a rafa (the religion of Bob Marley and what we call Adam). While discussing what to wear to be a rafa Hoku came up with the brilliant idea that I should be a hobo! She was super excited and when that girl gets excited about something there is no turning back so there it was. While most most girls looked pretty I looked like a boy, a dirty boy. To help me look authentic Hoku made me a sign. She wrote,
"will dance for food" and I know I am a poor and hungry college student but really who wants food when you could have kisses? So of course I made her change it to kisses, but don't worry too much dad it didn't really work : ( Then I thought, what is a hobo without his alcohol, so I decided to get some...sort of. Come on people it is BYU (it is just apple cider) but I thought it added to the feel of my costume.
A lot of my friends wanted to go trick-or-treating so I decided to go, but since I haven't trick-or-treated since elementary school and kinda feel like thats the way it should be I just tagged a long and took a ton of pictures. Sometimes I would have friends staying behind with me but other times I didn't and what do you think it looked like with me sitting on the street corner? My friends thought it was funny because I looked so much like a hobo. Apparently I also look identical to Will Smith in Hancock, minus the skin color I'm assuming.
After trick-or-treating we went to a dance party at this house that is called the "Hollywood House." It was a ton of fun and it rained a little so I didn't have to miss Oregon Halloweens too much.
I've rambled on for a good amount of space so I'll just add so more pictures of my sweet Halloween costume. Hope you enjoy! And for all the Berne's reading this everyday I come to realized how much of a Berne I truly look like. Even my friends here who don't know my family say I look like a "Berne"

True blue...forever blue!

This week is Homecoming week and true to BYU they have some odd activities planned for each day. Today happened to be the "True Blue" football game. So as good freshman my friends and I went. I knew a lightly about it. Mainly I knew you get all covered in this odd blue foam. Man was I in for a surprise at how "covered" you get...and how long it stays. Here are some pictures to show you the grand event.

Apparently the blue is supposed to last till the real football game...that is on saturday!!! I'm pretty sure it will stay till then.

College life

So this coming week holds my first tests and I'm pretty sure next week I have a test in each class and a paper due. And yet it is 10:26 right now and I haven't started any homework. I finally got my bike so I can get to lacrosse practices (cuz I made the team) and then it was Hi'ilei's birthday so of course we had to do something...and oh did we do something.
Back home we had this tradition of kidnapping people on their birthday and bringing them to some place fun. So, why not continue it in college? Only we kinda vamped it up a little. We had everything planned out perfectly but Hi'ilei decided to leave FHE early so we had to improvise just a little. So Hoku (my roommate) and I had the boys in our group sing to her while we came from around the back to take her down, literally take her down.
We may have frightened some innocent bystanders but all is fun and games when kidnapping. After kidnapping her and physically carrying her to the car, which was an adventure of its of own, we brought her to sonic. May not seem like the greatest birthday adventure but Hawai'i doesn't have sonics and she's been dying to go.

We may not have many friends outside of our little Polynesian and polypockets (aka wannabes) group but tonight everyone wanted to be friends with us. No lie. I mean seriously how cool do we look (this may be a rhetorical question)? And I'd like to show the oddeness of BYU. While carrying her a pretty long distance we passed a court of basketball players and I don't think anyone even flinched at the odd scene before them. Gotta love BYU. Here is the final product of our struggle to get Hi'ilei into the car. And tests?? What are those?

My best friend finally came back to me!

So I realized I haven't really posted in a while. I'd like to say that is because I've been too busy doing my homework, but I live bythe honor code now and that would be a serious violation. I've been adapting to my little room, amazing roommate, homework load, and lacrosse. I love my room and my roommate and I've thankfully found friends just as crazy as me already. When it isn't 12:30 in the morning I'll post with pictures of my room, roommate, and friends (ya I have proof they actually exist).
But one of my greatest distractions has been the ever impending release date of my best friend, yes my brother. I flew home on the 11th around 7:50 to then drag my heavy bags (full of homework I didn't ever really touch) to sit and wait 2 and a half hours for his plane to come in. Thankfully he was 45 minutes early. I sat watching a bunch of New Yorkers come off the plane while ringing my hands to see him. I started to fear my whole "Andrew coming home isn't really real" theory was true. Don't worry it was just that he was the SECOND to last person off the plane. But he did finally get off the plane and I pretty much attacked him and the airline ladies (who had previously looked at like me like I was a weirdo as I was the only one sitting in the terminal...really the only person sitting in that whole section of the airport) looked at us with the biggest smile ever. We then quickly proceeded towards the exit, strict orders from my mom.
I got to spend a fun weekend with him before having to come back to reality and more waiting. Thankfully he plans on coming back to me in like a week or so, but here are some pictures of our fun weekend.

Berne children, not in order for some reason. Do we look alike?

Possibly one of the cutest pictures. Also Jenelle with her new favorite person to be with : (

European maybe?
Hasn't changed much to me, still the same old dork I knew two years ago. Maybe, the whole tighter clothes is new or the not smiling in pictures, but whatever he does doesn't matter because he is doing it with us now.

Just for Dad

My Dad called to ask where my text books were in my previous posts. So, to indulge the old man I thought I'd show what my room looks like and what studying looks like. Granted I am studying for my Book of Mormon final so how bad can that studying be?

Let me add the desks are too small for how I study. I like to spread out (Ask my parents, in high school the whole living room became my study area). Well Dad I hope this makes you a little happier to see I am working hard. It doesn't look too good when you don't do well on a religion test : )

Finals...what are those?

So as I near my first college finals week I decided to work very hard to prepare for them. Granted I worked really hard on my...tan (which I'd like to add is very lacking. T-shirts and long shorts don't make for nice tan lines). And yes those are two different swim suites which means I was there multiple days this weekend. Claire and I struggled to see in the sun without our sunglasses, but I don't know how to explain the...butt. And don't worry the boy in the back is talking to someone behind Claire not just starring at Claire's beautiful butt. I'm really good at prioritizing what I need to do. (Warning-haven't really figured out the whole uploading pictures so sorry it is a little chaotic. And I LOVE pictures so most my posts will be full of them). It was a great weekend. I accomplished a lot. I have the tan...wait more like burn lines to show for my hard work. Oh how I love college in the summer.

Counselor

I've wanted to grow up for the longest time and get away from immature teenagers so of course I go to Utah to be a camp counselor! I'm taking classes as well but I spend most my time watching various sporting events, playing with the campers, going to seven peaks, eating, sleeping, and getting paid for all of it.
See the shirt makes it official. This also happens to be around 3 am because I don't sleep anymore, have I already mentioned that? I love my job and love, most of the time, the girls I've had.

I don't even really realize I'm a counselor. Most of the time I just feel like an overly bossy camper and except for the height difference I could be a camper.

What I do with my time

As I embark on the newest section of my life, college, I've come to realize how important sleep is. Sleep has become a luxury that I can't really afford, a long with a lot of other things. So instead of managing my time and sleeping more I've decided to make a blog. Which, of course, is a great way to spend my extra time that I have. I blame this all on Alisha and Cooper as I've wanted to be able to make comments on their fun blog. And I thought that maybe some people would enjoy seeing pictures of my new life or hearing from me. It'll probably be just my sister, who for a mom of two little girls has wayyy too much free time (love you lisha) and my loving grandparents, hopefully.
So feel free to comment as I'll probably be on blogspot more than I sleep!
