Fun in the sun

This last weekend was my teams first tournament for the normal season. Ironically my family planned a trip to Anaheim California before they even knew that my team would be playing in Santa Barbara the same weekend. I flew into California on Wednesday night to meet my family in Anaheim and play for a day. Thursday we went to Disneyland and California Adventure for the first time since I was like 3 years old. Sadly my camera died the moment we walked into Disneyland so for right now I don't have anything documenting that trip. It was loads of fun if you subtract the fact that I get motion sick...I went on almost all the rides that everyone else did but I spent most the day with a spinning head and upset stomach but I was with my family and it was sunny out. I think in the end my favorite rides were Indiana Jones, Splash Mountain, Grizzly Peak, and the Toy Story ride.
Friday morning my family drove me up to LA area to meet my team where my team then drove to Santa Barbara. Before we left the weather was saying it would be rainy and cold but we lucked out and got great weather. It wasn't too warm, but it would've been harder for us if it had been really warm. We went to the beach and played around before we had to head to the fields.
Our first game was against the number 8th team in the nation and it was our first time playing on a real field, or any field, since November. It started out a little ruff and at half time the score was 2-1 but we won the game 6-1. It was exciting and tiring. We then went on to play the number 3 team, Santa Clara. They were for sure the best team we played in the tournament. The girls were some of the tallest girls I have seen and were crazy fast but we played super well against them and only lost by 2 points. We were actually alright with that loss because they were such a good team.
The next day we woke up to beautiful sunshine and decided to go to the beach again. This time we weren't allowed to get in the water or sunbathe as we still had 2 more games to play. I was more excited about the games on Saturday because my parents and grandparents drove up to watch them. Our first game was against Santa
Barbara, who at the time was ranked number 1. This was our most frustrating game because we were winning and just lost the game in the last minutes. For most of the game we were leading by 2 points but in the last 5 minutes they scored 4 goals to our 0. After being super depressed we ate and played around in the parking lot trying to get up again for our next game.
Our last game was against UCLA, who were ranked like 8th. This game really showed how unexperienced my team is when it comes to playing on a real field. We have been practicing on any surface we can that isn't covered by snow which has been parking lots or a tennis court that we shoveled. UCLA was probably the second best team we played but we played pretty terrible against them. It was a sad way to end the tournament but it was an extremely fun weekend and we went into the tournament ranked 15th and the polls that came out yesterday have us ranked as 7th!!! So despite the fact that we went 1-3 we came out better than we went in.
